It was a sunny day, and our stand was packed with people.
In May, we received an invitation to an event organised, amongst others, by the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis for the 6th edition of the international culinary festival "Łączy Nas Chleb" (Bread Unites Us). The event took place over the weekend of 23–24 May in Zadole Park in Katowice.
This event is a festival of Katowice’s partner cities, and this year there were representatives from countries including Hungary, France, Germany and the Czech Republic.
This year, the Festival’s theme was pasta and noodles, and the event’s special guest was Robert Makłowicz.
Przystanek11 organised three cooking demonstrations on how to prepare the Asian dish pad thai. The demonstration was led by Karolina Żmijewska, who has been with our studio since the very beginning, in 2017.
Karolina discussed the main principles and flavours of Thai cuisine, before moving on to talk about this particular dish. Pad Thai is one of the most popular Thai dishes. The basic ingredients for making pad Thai are: rice noodles, various vegetables and sprouts, tamarind, peanuts, chilli, egg and tofu. We heated the wok, then added the spice paste (garlic, ginger, chilli), followed by the tofu, prawns and noodles. We served the dish with lemon wedges and chopped peanuts, spring onions and mung bean sprouts.
The weather was on the organisers’ side that day, and we had a huge turnout at our stand. We handed out loads of bowls of pad thai, and there were plenty of people keen to get the recipes so they could make the dish at home. Anyway, take a look at the photos.
